About the event
Damascus Township invites local residents to bring their recyclables to the Township Building free of charge the second Saturday of each month.
Residents may also drop off bags of non-recyclable trash for $5.00 per bag.
Our recycling days are more than just a drop-off — they are a chance to connect with neighbors and build community.
During the late fall and winter months, we offer coffee and donuts inside, providing a warm place to sit, visit, and get to know one another. In the spring and summer, join us for a pancake breakfast with all the fixin’s, available at an affordable cost.
What Can be Recycled?
GLASS BOTTLES
Empty and rinse. Labels may stay on.
Separate by colors: clear, brown, & green (all wine bottles are green) DO NOT BREAK GLASS.
NOT ACCEPTED: windows, mirrors, light bulbs, white glass, dishes, drinking glasses, Pyrex, heat tempered glass, or ceramics.
METAL CANS
Empty and rinse. Labels may stay on.
NOT ACCEPTED: pie plates, foil, paint cans, aerosol cans, pots and pans, fuel tanks, coat hangers, or other metal items.
PLASTIC BOTTLES ONLY
Empty and rinse. Labels may stay on.
#1 & #2 ONLY: Milk, soda, water, and detergent bottles marked with the symbol #1 for recycling or the recycling symbol for #2 recycling that are on the bottom.
NOT ACCEPTED: Plastic bags, tubs, vegetable trays, toys, or other plastic items, even if they are labeled 24 or 22. No styrofoam.
No plastic bottles with a 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 inside the recycling symbol. No motor oil bottles.
Cardboard, Newspapers, Magazines, Phone Books, Junk Mail
Must be separated according to type. Tie with heavy string or twine only. Do not use any plastic.
Volunteers are there to help, but not to separate your trash. Please wait your turn to drive up close to the bins so as to keep everyone safe!
Please take special note that just because an item is marked RECYCLABLE or is marked with recycling arrows, it does NOT automatically mean it is recyclable under our program.
